1945

The origins

Florence, 1945.
As the city struggled to recover after the war, Virgilio Nannini worked among the trains and workshops at the Leopolda Station. In a fragile period, a dream was born: to transform the power of labor into something lasting, combining ingenuity and beauty. From military tents and humble materials, the first artisanal experiments took shape—the roots of a story that would unite a family for generations.

1946 - '48

The first bags

Sewing curtains was tiring and unprofitable.
So Virgilio and his family decided to change direction: in their living room they created the first bags with a material that imitated leather, the fruit of intuition and creativity.
A new way of working was born, based on precision, economy of resources and attention to detail.
In 1947 the company found its headquarters at Via Faentina 77, Florence, which would remain the brand's home for over sixty years.

1950 - '60

The expansion

Italy was smiling again.
Life was becoming more dynamic, the economy was growing, and Nannini was growing with it.
The bags were sold throughout Italy, first in small accessory and umbrella shops, then in boutiques in the main cities.
Rooted in Florence but ready to flourish elsewhere, Nannini became a symbol of Italian rebirth: elegance, rigor, and Tuscan craftsmanship.

1970 - '80

The Golden Age

Virgilio's sons took up his legacy and brought the brand into a new era.
The collections expanded with new accessories and more contemporary lines, remaining faithful to the founding values: simplicity, femininity and freshness.
Nannini conquered the international market, bringing the charm and essence of Made in Florence to the world.

1990 - 2000

INNOVATION AND CONTINUITY

As the world changed, Nannini continued to tell his story consistently.
Each collection became a meeting between past and future: innovative materials, refined details, and the unmistakable artisanal sensibility that has always distinguished the brand.
Leather remained the protagonist, passion its driving force.

TODAY

A NEW ERA

After more than 70 years, Nannini writes a new chapter.
Her bags continue to speak of Florence, of the light that passes through the leather, of the hand that finishes every seam.
Tradition and modernity blend in a vision that looks forward without forgetting its origins.
